Access 2007 FAQ

How do I remove controls from a control layout? Whenever I try to resize one control on my form or report, it resizes all of them. How do I stop this behavior?

In the Microsoft Office Access 2007 templates, most of the form and report controls are in what we call control layouts. If you'd like to remove some or all of the controls from a control layout, follow the steps outlined below.

Open your form or report in Design view.

Next, highlight the control(s) you want to remove from the control layout.

Click the Remove button in the Control Layout group on the Arrange tab of the Ribbon, as seen in the following screenshot.

Access removes that control, or controls as the case may be, from the control layout. You can now freely resize or move those controls independently of each other.

Please note that Access might rearrange the remaining controls on the form or report design grid when you remove other controls from the control layout.
