Why won't Access let me convert one of the 2007 templates to the 2000-2003 MDB format?
All of the new Access 2007 templates are saved in the ACCDB file format. To convert a template database to the MDB file format, you need to click the Microsoft Office Button, click Save As on the Office menu, and then click Access 2002-2003 Database or Access 2000 Database on the right side, as shown below.

However, if you attempt to convert a template to the MDB file format, Access presents the following message to you:

So why can't Access convert it to a MDB format? The reason for this is because there are several features present in the ACCDB format that are not supported in the MDB format. Specifically, the templates could have one or more of the following features:
Access 2007 cannot convert the templates, or any ACCDB database for that matter, to the MDB format if any ACCDB format-only features are in the database. You will need to remove those specific features in order to convert the database to the MDB file format.
